Roadmap
FamilyHub is actively being developed. Here's what shipped recently, what I'm working on, and what's coming next.

Family cookbook with AI recipe import
A shared recipe collection for your family. Paste any recipe URL or raw text and the AI reformats it into a clean, editable recipe — ingredients, steps, times, and tags. Search across your cookbook, edit anything, cook from the kitchen tablet. Everything runs through a strict JSON schema so the AI can't slip free-form text in.
Smart shopping suggestions
"You buy milk, eggs, and bread every week — add them to the list?" FamilyHub learns your family's patterns and suggests items before you forget them. Accept, dismiss, or suppress individual suggestions from the list view.
Ambient tablet dashboard
A glanceable kitchen-tablet home screen: a huge clock, today's agenda, shopping and chores counts, and a time-of-day doodle. Admins pick between the interactive and ambient styles under Admin > Settings.
Being built right now
These are the features I'm actively working on.
Smart task reminders
"It's been 3 weeks since the bathroom was cleaned." Based on your completion history, FamilyHub nudges you when recurring chores are overdue.
iOS & Android apps (in progress)
Native wrappers for iPhone and Android built on Capacitor, so the same React codebase ships as real App Store / Play Store apps. Push notifications, a smoother experience, and quick access from the home screen. Work in progress — not yet on the stable branch, but that's what's being built right now.
Coming up next
On the list. No fixed dates yet, but these are definitely happening.
More AI & voice providers
More AI providers
Google Gemini, Mistral, and local models via Ollama. Pick the AI that works best for you — or run it entirely offline.
More speech-to-text providers
Google Cloud STT, Azure Speech, and Deepgram as alternatives to faster-whisper and OpenAI Whisper.
Text-to-speech
The hub display reads your agenda out loud: "Good morning! Today you have a dentist at 10 and swimming lessons at 4."
Family communication
Family message board
Leave short messages on the hub display for your family. "I'll be home at 6" or "Don't forget to feed the cat."
Location-based reminders
"Remind me to buy milk when I'm near Albert Heijn." Uses your phone's GPS to trigger reminders at the right moment.
Shared notes
A place for recipes, instructions, phone numbers, WiFi passwords — all the little things you always need to look up.
Gamification
Points and rewards for tasks
Earn points for completing tasks. Great for motivating kids (and let's be honest, adults too).
Streaks
"3 weeks in a row: all tasks completed!" Visual streaks to keep the momentum going.
